It’s no secret that I love Corydon, Indiana. Here’s one of the places that help make it so much fun.

This is the KentJava Bar — coffee bar, that is!

It catches you on the sidewalk and lures you in. Who could resist a sign like this?

Not me, that’s who!

This is right downtown, convenient and popular. When Charlie and I were there, volunteers were gathering for Umuganda Corydon, the monthly morning of community service (another reason I love Corydon!).

Oh! Back up! First let me show you the doors. There are a couple of tables outside, which you can see a bit of in the foreground.

So then you come in.

Isn’t this bright and light and pretty? You feel warm and welcome as soon as you walk in.

It was empty when we first got there but, as I said, it began filling up with volunteers. One mom and daughters were people we knew and hadn’t seen for a while, so that was fun. And that’s ANOTHER thing I love about Corydon: you’re liable to meet friends anywhere you go. I was already used to that from where I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, which tends to have strong neighborhood identification, so I quickly felt at home when we moved to this small town.

BONUS DOOR: Across the street is the quite beautiful building that houses Harmony and Health organic food and supplement store.

EXTRA BONUS: The tail end of the Gothmobile, my beloved black Nissan.

They serve sammiches at KentJava, but they make them all in the morning and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Not really a restaurant. Great coffee and pastries. Wish I could get there without driving. One of the drawbacks to living out in the cuhntree.
