CoryDoors — KentJava Bar — #ThursdayDoors

A morning without Coffee is like SLEEP

This post is part of the Thursday Door link-up, hosted by Norm Frampton.

It’s no secret that I love Corydon, Indiana. Here’s one of the places that help make it so much fun.

This is the KentJava Bar — coffee bar, that is!

It catches you on the sidewalk and lures you in. Who could resist a sign like this?

Not me, that’s who!

This is right downtown, convenient and popular. When Charlie and I were there, volunteers were gathering for Umuganda Corydon, the monthly morning of community service (another reason I love Corydon!).

Oh! Back up! First let me show you the doors. There are a couple of tables outside, which you can see a bit of in the foreground.

Isn’t this bright and light and pretty? You feel warm and welcome as soon as you walk in.

It was empty when we first got there but, as I said, it began filling up with volunteers. One mom and daughters were people we knew and hadn’t seen for a while, so that was fun. And that’s ANOTHER thing I love about Corydon: you’re liable to meet friends anywhere you go. I was already used to that from where I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, which tends to have strong neighborhood identification, so I quickly felt at home when we moved to this small town.

You check out the offerings.

And place your order at the counter.

If you’re alone and bored, you can read a book.

Or, if you have a friend or two or three with you, you can play one of the games available.

gamesOr Butchie Stilger might be playing guitar in the window, which is also a great place to sit if you’re a gawk nugget.

BONUS DOOR: Across the street is the quite beautiful building that houses Harmony and Health organic food and supplement store.

EXTRA BONUS: The tail end of the Gothmobile, my beloved black Nissan.

bonusdoorThey serve sammiches at KentJava, but they make them all in the morning and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Not really a restaurant. Great coffee and pastries. Wish I could get there without driving. One of the drawbacks to living out in the cuhntree.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: A character goes to a coffee bar and meets someone from their past.

About

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

A very handsome entranceway indeed, and no I would not want to try counting my change on that counter πŸ™‚

Great outing. Thanks for taking us on the tour. I feel more perky already.

    The writing prompt:
Sounds like the beginning of EVERY episode of The Highlander.
Mac goes somewhere. He meets another Highlander he once knew. They fight.
The End. (Heads flying, lightning flashing!)

This is a door I can put my arms around since I’m sitting here reading this with my afternoon coffee on the side table. πŸ™‚ You can take me along to your favorite coffee shop any time you want. πŸ™‚

I’m quite sure I’d hang out there, too, if I lived nearby.
