CoryDoors — Point Blank Brewery #ThursdayDoors

This is part of Norm Frampton’s wonderful Thursday Doors link-up.

One of my favorite places in Corydon is the Point Blank Brewing Company. They have excellent beer (not their own brew — their own brews always taste like Alka-Seltzer to me — sorry, Nathan!) and, for the intent of this post, beautiful doors.

PBdoorsI also like the window. The cow silhouette is on the wall inside. Because why not?

PBwindowPBfrontPBinteriorThe whole front of the building is all spiffed up. The inside, though scrubbed and clean, is just enough scuffed up to feel comfortable.

PB goes all the way through from the town square to the parallel street. I always come in on the Square side, because that’s where the hostess/host station is. That’s also where the specials are posted, and where I can call into the bar and ask what’s on draft that evening.

PBwellPB101Then I follow the waiter/waitress back to a table, stopping to snap this picture of the well. It used to be open, and people tossed coins in and made wishes, but it’s covered with plexiglass now. Less profit, more safety.

Here is table 101, where the Southern Indiana Writers Group usually meets.

Oh, and don’t forget to stop and have a look at the pizza oven. Wait! No! Don’t shove me in there, little girl!

PBovenSo, yeah, if we were having a beer, this very well might be what I would order.

PBbeerOld Rasputin. Good to the last drop.

Thanks for the mention. I absolutely love the window with the cow. That is so clever! Very nice doors and I’m glad to hear that you can find a beer that you enjoy. I’ve been to micro-brewery based bars where the only beers sold are the ones brewed there, and none seem interesting to me.

Yeah, I’ve been to a couple of those, too, and haven’t been pleasantly surprised. But whoever chooses the other-people’s-beers for Point Blank does a stellar job!

Ha! And I was there one evening when #1 Daughter’s book club met at PB, and THEY were at 101. That must be the Noisy People Table. lol

Don’t tease me with that oven door! Doubtless, you recall my tale re my neighbors believing I was a witch! All it took was my giant black cat and the inexplicable charm I held on their children (I paid attention to them). Ah, the good olde days.

I’m so jealous of your Old Rasputin! I still have the bottle from my years-ago taste experience. It was divine!

Thanks for the tour. Can’t wait to get there!

I do remember! I feel so sorry for those kids, growing up with those parents.

Yeah, Old Ras and Guinness are my fall-backs when all else fails. 🙂 See you next week!

Love micro breweries! We have several excellent ones in the Naperville area, but their beer is good. 🙂 Nice doors as well. I see by what you’re drinking that you’re a serious dark beer lover like me. Always nice to meet another person with good taste. 🙂

Congratulations on having good microbreweries around! There are lots in New Albany and in Louisville, but that’s too far. A lot of folks love PB’s microbrews, so it’s just my taste. Yes, I do love stouts and porters. I like my beer like I like my men: tall, dark, and rich. ROTFL
