Hope you’re having a good Friday so far. I’m feeling much better since I went on Facation — a Facebook vacation. I have many opinionated friends (and my friends have at least one — moi), and the current news/politics had been mixing too much toxicity in with my preferred content of flowers, fluffy kittens, laughing dogs, information, and reasoned discourse. So I stopped checking my newsfeed and notifications for a while, and I’m slowing healing those psychic chemical burns. I’ll wade back in, by and by, but now I’m enjoying the peace.

Okay, suppose you’re selling something. Books, for instance. And say you have business cards. And then let’s say you want a QR code to point to your Amazon Author’s page with all your books on it. Yeah, I know, that one isn’t yours, it’s mine. Hire a lawyer and sue me. So you clip that URL and take it to an URL shortener, because shorter URLs make better QR codes. I like tinyURL. Clip your short URL and take it a QR code generator. I like kaywa, and I choose the static option. Right-click on the QR code the page generates and save it as a jpg file.

NOW, you can customize it! Here’s a super-duper article on how to do that at How-To-Geek! Be sure to check your work by trying to read it with a QR code reader (I use ScanLife) with every change you make, to be sure the code still works. 🙂

Some people think “literary” fiction is “fiction in which nothing happens.” I heartily disagree. Good literary fiction is fiction in which a great deal happens, much of it internal, where it matters most to most people most of the time. For instance, take a gander at “Confiteor” by Dr. Alicia Butcher Ehrhardt. No explosions or robbing deserted temples and stuff, but puh-lenty happens to the poor sad bastard.

Now, Charlie wanted to know if he could make gravy with non-dairy milk substitute, so I went looking and found — TA-DAAAA! — The Southern Vegan! Here’s your vegan biscuits and gravy, right here. And, if you want another kind of gravy, VegWeb is all about it! I could probably use this gravy to make vegan poutine!!!! Or I could use Hot For Food’s vegan poutine recipe!!!! Life is good. Especially when you stay off of Facebook.

On the other hand, if I hadn’t been on Facebook, I would know that David Brown had a new book forthcoming: ONE INCH FROM EARTH. I have one word for you. No, not plastics. Mars. ‘Nuff said.
