I finished my house in my new Minecraft biome. I know it’s pretty lame compared to the magnificent structures other people build, but I’m not very good at it, so I’m easily pleased. Here is a long view of my house and garden.

The house is made out of birch tree logs and the roof is made out of red clay blocks. The garden has sugar cane, pumpkins, carrots, and wheat.

Here’s the front of my house.

The skull is one of the paintings I slapped onto the wall. You take some wool and some sticks and make a painting icon. Then you slap it on the wall and see what the painting looks like. If you don’t like it, knock it off the wall and slap it on again. I liked the skeleton smelling a rose. I am MomGoth, you know.

The flowers are courtesy of Youngest Grandson, who taught me how to Minecraft. He says the first thing he does when he builds a house is find some flowers to plant out front. So I did.

Here’s the front room, with carpet and paintings.

And here’s the back room, with anvil, furnace, crafting table, and entrance to a tunnel. This is where I hide during thunderstorms. During bad thunderstorms, I go down into the tunnel. I don’t like thunderstorms, even in Minecraft.

The other day, I found this cave of stone and sandstone. I find it extremely beautiful and soothing. I spent some time, just standing there and looking at it. Youngest Grandson would have been slaughtering ghasts or creepers or some such, but I have the monsters dialed down to 0, so I just enjoyed the quiet and beauty. (The sandstone looks golden on my tablet, and the stone looks faintly blue.)

And so the sun sets over my beautiful new biome.
