Thank God and School Board #FoundPoem

TGaSchoolBoardThis one isn’t exactly a “found” poem — it IS a poem. It was printed as if it were prose but, when I started breaking the lines, the rhyme scheme appeared. This was phoned into the weekly paper’s Live Wire call line.

I don’t know who it is who has so happily departed, but I do know it was a termination of employment, not of life.

Thank God and School Board She’s Gone

by Anonymous Caller

Thank God and school board she’s gone;
She’s been coaching at Corydon for much too long.
Winning games is a wonderful sight
But not more important than being treated right.
It sounds really good because I’ve been silent too long.
Thank God and school board she’s gone.

Sounds like the chorus to a country song, doesn’t it? I can almost hear the steel guitar now….

ANYWAY, it’s Tuesday, so I’m posting at Fatal Foodies with a speedy-quick veg dish.

We had a principal like that once. Perfectly understandable!

    And my horse ran away….
With a big bale of hay….
So, I’m drinking my beer all alone…..
Not even a friend to call on the phone!
But she’s gone, gone, gone, daddy gone!

And obviously, I am no poet, but at least I know it!

Let wiser minds than mine add better verses!

That made me smile. Country music (and country phone calls) are a wonderful thing.
