Sweetie Pie On The Loose! #Caturday

Sweetie Pie Turner here, MomGoth’s mother’s cat.

The other day, MomGoth came to our house to write some checks for my mom, whose handwriting is a little shaky these days. MomGoth was concentrating really hard, because she isn’t very good with sums and there are only so many toes and fingers.

While she was working, I looked out the front door. I was also playing with her camera phone. I mean, she was busy; she wasn’t using it, was she?

It was when I looked at the latch through the camera that I realized something.

nolatchThe door wasn’t latched all the way!

I was very careful, which wasn’t easy to do while holding a camera in one paw and not catching my tail in the door as it closed.

I stopped to smell the greenery, then scuttled around the corner of the porch. But — ALAS!

There were birds and squirrels here just a minute ago!

Alerted by the sound of the door closing, MomGoth came out after me (Mom doesn’t like for me to go outside).

I was too quick for her, though, and I can slip between the posts while she has to go around to the steps.

FREEDOM!
FREEDOM!

She caught me when I stopped to catch one of those bobby stemmy things and carried me back in.

bustedIt was fun while it lasted. And I really don’t like to spend too much time outside. It’s kind of scary. My late brother, Ozzie, was a stray before he came to live with us, and it doesn’t sound like a life I would like at all.

So I’ll just be content indoors, like the angel cat my mom says I am.

angelic-sweetieMomGoth says she isn’t sure about that but, if I don’t stop sneaking her camera, I’ll surely be an angel cat sooner rather than later. Wonder what she means by that?

A WRITING PROMPT FOR ANIMALS: Do you ever sneak out if you’re supposed to be in, or in when you’re supposed to be out?

Crazy kitty. They certainly earn their mischievous distinction. Our little cat pried open the door to the basement yesterday (I didn’t latch it). She’s allowed downstairs but I think she likes it better when she breaks out.

They do like it better when they sneak it! It makes them feel clever and wild and undomesticated. 😀

When Squirrel was little, she would break out and run off to play with her brother Jethro. Later, she’d come back to be let in again.

She’s better behaved now and is pretty happy smelling the outdoors from the windows.

I haven’t heard you mention Jethro for a long time! Is he gone? Maybe that’s why she doesn’t break out anymore. 🙁

Alas! Jethro has been gone a while now. I’m hoping he’s just taking a long walk.

Yeah, he’s liable to come strollin’ up any day now, going, “Oh, were you lookin’ for me?”

Sweetie Pie didn’t have time for a selfie, Meeka. She was too busy running away! Maybe she’ll learn how to use the timer and take one next week. If she does, maybe she’ll teach me how. I can do selfies, but I don’t even know where the timer IS.

Haha! My female is a roamer, a hunter, so I seldom let her out without a tether, and my kitten, pfft, no way is he goin out without a tether. Now, my big boy, he always stayed right on the porch or a few feet from it. Last month, he took to roamin, so, no more that for him!

That would be one way to keep Sweetie Pie from going anywhere: putting her on a tether. Mom got a harness for her, and you’d think it was made of lead. Fasten it on, and she’s on the floor, “unable to move.” Sweetie Pie, not my mother. If you want her to move, you have to drag her like a dead cow. Still talkin’ about the cat.

Ah, yeah. Mine always have started that way, but then something catches their eye…
I could see it will probably take a while for Catticus…
Also, I’m relieved you don’t harness your mother 😛
