CoryDoors — Corydon Town Hall #ThursdayDoors

Corydon was founded in 1808 and we still don’t have a mayor. We have a town board, and the town board president is the town manager and does all the mayory stuff, I guess.

I went to the town hall the other day, because it isn’t important why. And I took pictures because Thursday Doors.

Thursday Doors is the brainchild of Norm Frampton, a photographer of great artistry. Every Thursday (with the link-up open until Saturday), folks from around the world snap photos of doors and share them. Go to Norm’s site, feast your eyes on his door photos, then click on the little blue frog button to find other doorista posts or, if you’re a doorista, too, to add your own.

ANYWAY, here’s the Corydon Town Hall.

townhalloutsidePurty, ain’t it?

Inside, it features this blue, which is authentic to the period in which the town was founded.

townhallinsideThat isn’t a wall panel the chairs are facing; it’s a long desk. The Town Council sits behind it for meetings, and the Planning and Zoning Board sits behind it to hear planning and zoning stuff.

That’s kind of weird, since the Town Hall was built in 1979, not 1808.

townhallplaqueHere’s another weird thing.

townhallvillainSee that picture in the middle? That’s a picture of General John Hunt Morgan, of Morgan’s Raid. One of the stupidest asshats ever to make general, and yet the town is cra-zy about him and his raid. He came through and whupped the knickers off our Home Guard, and yet we do this big recreation of the Raid every year, with horses and all. I’m like, “If I got whupped, I’d keep it quiet, y’all.”

And so we bid a fond farewell to the Corydon Town Hall. The panel at the top of the door is not a transom, alas, but just paneled glass.

townhallexitYa’ll come back now, y’hear?

“Hey I have an idea, let’s celebrate that big raid.”

    “We lost that battle.”

“Oh. Too bad, I already bought a keg of beer.”

    “Let’s celebrate losing the battle.”

Nice choice for today, Marian. Happy Thanksgiving!

Yeah, I’m kinda thinking I wouldn’t be bragging too much about getting my butt kicked either.
I do like the idea of a town with no Mayor though.
    Enjoy your Thanksgiving Marian 🙂

Enjoy YOUR Thanksgiving, Norm! I like it that the town has no mayor, too. Someday, we’ll have one, and then I’ll be a little bit sadder.

I think Dan is on to it. 🙂

I love that color blue! I actually love blue and white combos in just about anything though.

I love that little bell tower or what-cha-ma-call-it up on the town hall roof. It’s pretty neat.

Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving today!
