This dish violates my rule against making anything with more than five ingredients, but that doesn’t count, since I was making it up as I went along, and got all, “THIS would be good in it. And how about somma THIS?”
Cauliflower Thang
- oil
- onion, chopped
- cumin
- chili powder
- turmeric
- cauliflower, cut into florets
- water
- green beans
- cashews, chopped
- raisins, chopped
- salt
- tomato paste
- parsley, chopped
Heat oil. Stir in onion, cumin, chili powder, and turmeric and cook slowly until onion is tender and translucent. Add cauliflower and a little water. If the green beans are fresh, add them now. Cover and reduce heat, cooking until cauliflower and beans are tender. Add remaining ingredients (including green beans, if they’re canned or leftover cooked). Heat through. Serve with naan or other flatbread.
It was very, very, very good. I thought. Alas, Charlie didn’t like it. 🙁
A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: One character discovers something they love, but their significant other dislikes it very much.

Re_vampire cuisine:
One of the things I enjoy about vampire stories is how the author builds her own mythology. Ex: what can vampires eat? (Other than the red stuff, of course.) Further, the sunlight thing, the stake in the heart thing, the born that way thing, etc. These should be some of the best things about reading the story.

December 15, 2016 at 8:18amYes, and even the sparkle in sunlight thing. People (even I) make all manner of fun of that, but she didn’t just make that up; it’s a part of the lore from I-Forget-Where. And, even if she DID make it up, it’s a PROBLEM for them, whether the observer thinks it’s pretty or creepy or “Dude! That was some good shit! Worth every penny!”.

December 14, 2016 at 11:18amMy wife makes dishes similr to this (made up as she goes along). I eat them and I like them but, for some reason, I find cauliflower very filling.

December 15, 2016 at 8:20amDo you mean filling as in, “Mmm, wish I had an extra stomach so I could eat some more of this delicious cauliflower!” or filling as in, “I honestly couldn’t eat another bite.”?

December 16, 2016 at 7:29am@Marian Allen – Filling as in, I usually take a normal (for me) helping and I can’t finish it.
