I heard from Martin Cavannagh of Reedsy again, with information to share:
Hi Marian,
Martin from Reedsy here again 🙂 Hope you’re well! We’ve recently been thinking about new ways to help authors get their foot in the door, and with that in mind, we’ve set up a page on our site in which we’re curating the best and most reputable writing contests. From our experience, a lot of the contests out there are scams of some sort and we wanted some way for writers to locate the right competitions for them, without fear of wasting their time or money. You can find the page at this link: https://blog.reedsy.com/writing-contests I hope you like the idea and will consider sharing it with your readers 🙂

Well, Martin, yer dang right I’ll share it with my readers! Y’all, scroll down to below the graphic to search the contests by genre and other filters.
I used to enter writing contests quite a bit (see my credits and awards page!) and I recommend it. Any time you screw up your courage to send your writing out to people who don’t love you, you’re performing an act of cold-blooded professionalism. Do it.
A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write a list of the worst things that can happen to you if you enter a writing contest. Pretty short, innit?
