I may have recommended some of these before. If I don’t remember, chances are you don’t, either, so why do I even mention it? I don’t know, that’s why.
ANYWAY, I’m all about good food and, with friends who have various food avoidances, allergies, and physical intolerances, I’m always looking for food that is delicious AND edible for my friends. A great site for that is the enchantingly named Peaceful Dumpling, which is all about “natural makeup and skincare, yummy organic vegan foods, gorgeous cookbooks, cruelty-free clothing & accessories”.
My internet pal Dan Antion has written an awesomesauce conversion utility and is sharing it. It’s called NF Utilities, after No Facilities, the name of his blog. It converts Fahrenheit/Celsius, Feet-Inches/Centimeters, and other American to EverybodyElse stuff.
You don’t have to be a pinko hippie freak to love this article In Praise of Melancholia on the Naked Capitalism site. As someone who practically has her driver’s license registered in the state of Melancholia, I loved the article very much. My husband and I loved the Degas painting so much that illustrates it, a friend went and bought us a copy to hang on our wall!
From the Department of WTF: This website, EveryDayShouldBeSaturday, which is apparently some kind of football fan site, posted this “article,” I ATE THREE EGGS EVERY SINGLE MORNING FOR A WEEK — HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED. Despite the perfect click-bait title, it’s a science fiction story. A damn good one, too.
A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write about a melancholic sport fan in the future.

June 9, 2017 at 8:24amAw, thanks for the mention and kind words. Now I guess I have to fix the distance thing (it’s a little off, not that most Americans, including me, would realize). You may not know, but I stuck around here at the star because of your recipes. I don’t eat that stuff, but I love some people who do.

June 9, 2017 at 10:17amI did NOT know that was your initial interest here. I’ll hafta keep posting that stuff! π

June 9, 2017 at 11:06amGiven that most of my comments on those posts lean toward “this would be really good with bacon” I can see how you wouldn’t have jumped to that conclusion. I almost always email those posts to my wife and daughter.

June 9, 2017 at 2:36pmI loved that lil post on melancholia. I myself am riddled/blessed with it. Kinda don’t trust people who are naturally happy, bubbly, that sorta thing. Nice for them. Hard to relate to.
I like the Degas, but would rather have L’Abisinthe or the orchestra one…
Nice shares π

June 9, 2017 at 3:44pmIf you met me at an event, you would probably peg me for a naturally happy, bubbly person. I have this alter ego or full-body mask I use. Also, I tend to have these little moments of intense happiness, like bubbles in dark water. I cherish and nurse those. π

June 9, 2017 at 6:37pmI’m rarely like that, but when I am, I also view it as a mask. Sometimes I get downright giddy, but not without reason.
I’d love to meet you anywhere, bubbly or not. Someday.
