La Grange, Kentucky #ThursdayDoors

A couple of months ago, Per Bastet Publications (including moi) took part in the Karen’s Book Barn Authors Fair in La Grange, Kentucky.

The Fair was held in the James T.Beaumont Community Center, named after the first African-American councilman in La Grange (1969).

The doors were kinda boring, but check out the mailbox.

We didn’t use the front door, anyway; we used the back doors.

Aww, look at that cute li’l shed! With doors!

After we unloaded our stuff, I parked the car a couple of blocks away to leave room for customers and walked back. I checked out doors, of course, because DOORS.Β The doors are far away, but I wanted you to see how early in the morning we rise and busy ourselves for your reading pleasure.

So I started across the parking lot and — Ooooo! What’s this?

.

.

The DeHaven Baptist church, erected in memory of Judge S. E. DeHaven in 1923. Innit GORGEOUS?

And they had a couple of doors in the back, too.

La Grange is a super-cool town, with a working railroad running right through the middle of it. We love to go there, for whatever reason, although it usually has to do with selling books. πŸ™‚

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Your character is out very early in the morning.

Nice doors. Now, did you park far away to make room for customers, or so you had an excuse to walk and look for doors? You can admit it, you’re among friends.

I parked far away to make room for customers, give myself a touch of exercise, AND have a chance to look for doors. I’m too lazy to waste energy being single-minded.

It was NOT quite daylight. I hadda get up at ass a.m., go pick up my non-driving partner, and get to LaGrange by 8. In the morning. This is the glamorous life of the publisher/author.

Nice mailbox. Nice doors. I hope you will not think that I am being forward!
But how often does one get to compliment an authoress on her doors?
The most one gets a chance at is good story, or nice adjectives!

That church is lovely but I gotta give props to that mailbox door too. I admire your dedication to the cause πŸ™‚

I’ve been to two weddings and, while everybody else was taking pictures of the bride, I was taking pictures of doors. People who know me just looked at me and said, “Doors, right?”
