The Doors of #InConjunction2017 #ThursdayDoors

Joey and I didn’t get to go on a doorscursion at InConjunction 2017. There weren’t any intrinsically “good” doors, but a doormet (rhymes with gourmet) can find interest in any door, amIright?

Here is the door to the Expo Hall, where folks set up to sell stuff. I bought other people’s books, some dragons, a My Neighbor Totoro bag, an’ … an’ … an’ stuff!

The guy in the picture actually had an actual face, but I didn’t get his permission to use it, so I blurred it out.

Here’s the guy I got to look at all weekend.

Innee cute?

Here’s the guy I bought the dragons from. Joey asked, “Did you ever ask him how he makes his stuff?” I said, “No.” She said, “Well, don’t.”

Here’s a gallery of other stuff, some doorish, some not. Click on any one to enter the slideshow. Explanations are in the captions.

Thursday Doors is the brain child of Norm Frampton. Head over to his blog, see his pictures, scroll down and click on the little blue frog, and find links to doors from all over the world. THE WORLD!!!

There are box molds for the clay, (He made the molds) then other clay is formed to provide the details, all hand-assembled and painted and whatnot. The teeth are WOW. The scales are amazing. They’re beautiful up close and personal, even the insides are neat, and they’re $175.

Those dragon boxes were amazing! I did go on about them at home, too. Those teefs! :O 😀 But yeah, not an interesting how-to for me. He could have simply said, “Clay,” and that would have been enough for me! Now I regret not photographing them.
I think the door with the plants growing around it is definitely in the great door category, by default.
    Love the flyers, haha!

I found out later, he was doing a how-to hands-on demonstration that evening, so he was probably packed to the eyeballs with instructions and was sort of practicing on you. Or he might have given you the intensive answer in any case. We geeks tend that way. 😀

Yes! Yes! That’s it, exactly. That’s exactly what I was thinking. ~whistles nonchalantly while pretending to be as clever as Roy~

Your lunch/dinner looks mighty tasty, Marian. What I wonder in all the brouhaha about this sex and that sex is, where did the English come up with a Middlesex and what is it exactly?

It’s a county in England. It means “territory of the middle Saxons.” Saxon was shortened to “sex”.

It looks like you had a good time at the convention, and that door with the ivy/plants growing around it is lovely.
    Those dragons look amazing!

The best part of it was meeting Joey, for sure. 🙂 The dragons were amazing, and his silver jewelry was beautiful.

Awesome stuff! I especially like someone’s sense of humor with those fliers. “Free strips of paper” – guffaw 😀
Glad you got to meet up with Joey – it sure sounds like a fun time was had by all.

It was a much better time because I got to meet with Joey. But it turned out to be my second favorite event (first is Imaginarium in Louisville).
