You know how you’re listening to somebody, and they’re looking at empty space, and you know what they’re saying would make perfect sense if you could see what they’re looking at, but it’s in their head so you can’t so it doesn’t? Sometimes calls to the Live Wire are like that.
The Live Wire is a call-in service run by our local newspaper, so people can ask questions, make comments, and sometimes vent, usually anonymously.
Today, I give you this zen koan of a call, which I’m entitling Zero Calls.
Zero Calls
by Anonymous Caller
I see people are still complaining
about the price of gas.
Years ago,
when I had a solution,
victims after the crime,
zero calls.
So, people want to gripe and complain;
it’s their own fault.
… Anyone in Harrison County
doing anything about it?
I lived in Harrison County
for a long time.
Moved to Clark County
Still tried to get it going.
Victims after the crime.
Zero calls.

There’s food for thought.
I’m posting today at Fatal Foodies with a recipe for Muddy Buddies.
A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: Write about victims after the crime.

July 11, 2017 at 8:13amWe used to get a free local paper that was 60% oddball questions, complaints and venting. It was a mix of funny and annoying to read. We finally got them to stop delivery.
