In the summer, we often have a mixture of fresh veg and leftover Stuff. Like this:
The corn is fresh, obvs. Then there’s some leftover black beans and rice (flavored with cumin and chili powder) and topped with the tag end of a head of lettuce.
As my grandpa would have said, “We was just as full as if we’d had a good meal.” 😀
A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: A character eats the tag-end of something. Good idea or bad idea?

I love that!
Nothing like fresh corn on the cob – that just screams “SUMMER!”

August 16, 2017 at 2:07pmI know! I don’t eat eggplant, corn on the cob, or termaters if I can’t get ’em fresh and local. A friend of mine calls it eating the seasons.

August 17, 2017 at 6:28pmI prefer eating in the seasons thereof. I was saying to He-Man I wish he had purchased more peaches at the Farmer’s Market. He does that shopping. He said he didn’t because I didn’t eat the fruit he bought the week before. He bought white peaches, I don’t care for those and pluots. Pluots aren’t anything nature made so I don’t want that either I said. Maybe I should have gone with him to the Farmer’s Mrkt. 🙂

August 18, 2017 at 7:59amSome friends came to visit from southern Tennessee and brought us a basket of Alabama peaches. We savored the last one yesterday. It’s worth waiting all year for a few mouthfuls of real flavor! To my mind, luxury isn’t peaches in the winter, it’s peaches in season.
