Summer Near Perfection #food

This could only have been better with two small changes:

The corn was from the farmers market. Peaches came up from Alabama with our Tennessee visitors. Charlie loves these Kroger Salmon Burgers, and I can tolerate them, though I prefer fresh(er); I doll them up with Gruyère cheese and dill sauce. The improvements (other than realer salmon)? The peas were canned, and the beverage in the upper right corner was coffee, rather than stout or porter.

Still, it’s hard to beat fresh corn and peaches!

A WRITING PROMPT FOR YOU: What does your main character prefer fresh? Writers with vampire main characters need not bother with this one. heh

I agree with the suggested changes, but that all looks pretty good.

It was pretty good. Charlie loves those salmon burgers, and he’s getting other people hooked on them. He ought to get a commission from the company!

I’d eat that right up. Fresh corn!!! The eatin’s good lately, eh? Mmm nom nom! I make salmon patties for The Mister and I, but you know my kids won’t touch a fish unless it’s sushi or tuna, I.Don’t.Know. I’ve never tried the frozen ones — are they dry?
I don’t mind canned peas but I usually go for frozen there. My recent pot pies had canned peas, and they weren’t near as poppy, you know? I’m all about white flesh nectarines this year — Have you had those? ZOMG. Moo and I can’t get enough of em! Living in Georgia so long, I’m a bit of a snob about peaches. They’re not nine cents a pound here and they aren’t near as good — but oh yes, peaches and cream in Georgia… here, I’ll stick to the nectarines.

I would prefer frozen peas, but Charlie likes the mushy ol’ canned ones. Yuck. These frozen salmon patties are very moist. I think that’s what Charlie likes about them. We used to have an orchard that brought fresh fruit to the farmers market, but he takes his goods elsewhere, these days. That means the only fruit we get fresh are Asian pears from Mrs. Mathes’ brother, and blueberries (earlier in the season, of course). Boo hoo!

Kroger’s salmon burgers are good. But, Dr. Praeger’s and Costco’s are sublime! (and, they cook uniformly well…)

Salads, peaches, cherries, strawberries, and bread.

I need to find a yummy recipe for left over salmon. He-man’s been grilling Salmon steaks this summer and there’s been one left over that I don’t know what to do with. I don’t like em reheated so I don’t eat it the leftover Salmon, but I was thinking a salmon salad, or spread might be good? Salmon patties…might need to be made with raw salmon then cooked?

Any ideas for left over Salmon would be greatly appreciated!

All of those salmon recipes sound great! You could chop that guy up (the leftover salmon, not He-Man) and mix it with cucumber, dill, and plain yoghurt. Maybe a few capers. My mouth is watering, now!
