You know what lyophilization is, you just may not know that you know. What it is, is freeze drying. You know, like instant coffee. Personally, I would buy something they said was lyophilized any day of the week. I can see a guy sitting at a table, sipping coffee and raving about how good it is, and then somebody says, “It’s lyophilized!” and he morphs into the Wolfman. “No, no, I said LYOPHILIZED, not LYCANTHROPIZED!” and he morphs back. Ah, geek horror humor.
ANYWAY, here’s an article about how lyophilization works. Why do I care? Because, 1) that’s the kind of hairpin I am and, as this article explains, 2) the Vikings did it. Not the football players, the Viking Vikings.
I can’t remember if I recommended this next site before and I’m too lazy busy to check. My Delicious Homemade “is a partnership business between two old friends who are passionate about food, therefore, offering their best catering services.” They have a cookbook! They also cater, but, like, in Africa, so I’ll have to use the cookbook. I seriously doubt they’d fly to Backwoods, Indiana for a price I could afford.
‘Member math in high school? ‘Member the Pythagorean Theorem? Guess what? Pythagoras didn’t invent it. At least, he may have invented it, but he didn’t invent it first. Those wacky Babylonians did! There’s a clay tablet called Plimpton 322 that is a trigonometric table using ratios based on base 60. Is that nifty, or what? Don’t say, “Or what,” just don’t!
Okay, okay, I’m not mad. I’m peacing out, thanks to Mary J. Melange’s post about the Children’s Peace Flags she saw not long ago. She went on a walk, which is a thing I hate to do, but on the walk she went to a park, which is a thing I love. In the park, the trail was lined with Peace Flags made by area students. Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could all take time to look at and absorb the peace longed for by the generations that will — or won’t — come after us?

September 15, 2017 at 8:55amI lived on freeze-dried food for a relatively long hiking/camping trip once. I remember it being pretty good, and that was 40 years ago. I would assume its better today, although I wouldn’t know and I wouldn’t know why.
