Number Four’s Flat #ThursdayDoors

Charlie and I went to visit The Amazing Sara Marian and her equally amazing SO, Zakary Kendall. Naturally, I took pictures of doors and stuff.

In the neighborhood
Front door and lights for Joey.
Inside looking out.
Charlie and Sara photobombing the staircase.
Apartment door with hardware.
Oh, how I do love an arch! The stripey thing on the right is Dasha’s cage, covered. The Christmas tree is still up because Dasha loves it.
Dasha, my beloved grand-chinchilla.
The Family Picture. I don’t know HOW many Allens have Bruegel’s Hunters In The Snow on their walls.
The hall Sara closes off to make a play area for Dasha every evening. Sara did the “Russian folk art” painting when she was in St. Petersburg, studying at The Hermitage Museum. I told you she’s amazing.
Glass doorknob and hardware. I love these.

A WRITING PROMPT BASED ON MY POST: Write about a visit. Include climbing stairs AND a pet. Include climbing stairs and include a pet, I mean, not climbing stairs and climbing a pet.

Aren’t they lovely? Charlie salvaged a couple glass knobs from a renovation job he did (he’s a retired English/Humanities teacher, but he did some small construction/repair work), and we have them on some interior doors. They make me happy.

Great doors, Marian. Dasha looks a little surly. Maybe she was hoping her door would be open for the photo-op. I like the lod glass door knobs.

Dasha sleeps a lot, and she wasn’t sure she wanted to be awake. She wanted to say hello to her Grandmar, though. I gave her a piece of dried papaya, and that cheered her up. Then she went back to sleep. πŸ™‚

Dasha IS soft and cute! She makes these little peepy squeaks when she’s happy. She’s very snuggly, which is BAD for her, since chinchillas are from the high Andes and get overheated easily. But she doesn’t care: she’ll burrow into the pocket of #4’s fleece hoodie and go to sleep. Sara has to keep checking Dasha’s ears: If they get pink, she has to move Dasha into the open so she can cool off. πŸ˜€

It’s a really nice space, and they’ve made it very “homey”.
