CoryDoors – Po Boy BBQ #ThursdayDoors

Our church has a lunch fellowship once a month called Food For The Soul (yes, I go to church, be nice). This month, we went to a fairly new place in town called Po Boy BBQ. They don’t have a web site, just a Facebook page, alas. But, if you’re ever in Corydon and want to go to Po Boy’s, it’s over there in that little strip near Wal-Mart, behind the Dairy Queen, where the Subways is. You know: between the movie theater and Culvers, Catty-cornered from the bank. Yeah, yeah, there.

Kids are welcome, too.

Don’t see anybody? Ring for service.

The kitchen is right back there, to one side of that gorgeous copper tile.

They had these for sale. I didn’t buy one, because I didn’t know what they were. Now that I do, I wish I’d bought one. Kinley is a little girl — or a young woman, now — who is raising money to improve the playrooms at a children’s hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Kids today, eh? Kids today. What can you say about kids today, except YOU GO, KIDS! And you can stand on my lawn any time. <3

I wanted one of everything, but I settled for this. It’s an Uncle Vanya, or a Grandpa Jones, or — No, I remember: It’s a Papa George. It’s a combination of pulled pork and beef brisket, sweet potato fries, the best slaw I ever ate, and something called “Carolina Golden Sauce” or sumpin. It was mustardy. Me no like. I was supposed to dip the fries in it. Blechh. I think I might have liked it as a dressing on my sammich, but I put the red BBQ sauce on it, instead.

I hope we go again sometime.

I like your directions for how to get to these doors. It sounds exactly how people tell you to find somewhere. Your meal looks yummy, too.

The meal was pretty good. Great slaw, great pulled pork, kinda dry brisket, sad because I hoped the golden sauce was honey butter. lol

I love metal tiles. I’ve been in restaurants, though, where tin tiles on the ceiling bounce the sound around until you need earplugs. Probably a combination of the size of the room, the height of the ceiling, the metal involved, the insulation behind the tiles, and a hundred other factors I can’t even imagine. And, yeah, I definitely enjoyed that slaw as a counterpoint.

It’s a good thing I just ate. Otherwise, I’d be testing my theory that in any city, there is something good that can be descibed as : “it’s over there in that little strip near Wal-Mart, behind the Dairy Queen, where the Subways is” – I mean, yeah, that place.

LOL! I think that’s probably an excellent theory, well worth testing.

    Bless Kinley’s heart!!! <3
I cannot eat sweet potatoes, for I am allergic and they are just as orange when they come back up. That being said, I have eaten baby spoonfuls of them on the sly, and then prayed they'd stay down, for they are delicious. I WOULD NOT LIKE THEM WITH ANYTHING MUSTARDY! Oh the horror!!!
This post has me all !!!, sorry. Anyway, nice doors, nice place — send me some slaw! πŸ˜€
