I like to kid myself that this game helps me freshen my vocabulary and sharpen my spelling. Actually, I’m just addicted to it.
“This game” is Wordscapes, a game you can download for Android or iPhones. There are also many sites with cheats and answers. Why you would want answers to it, when there’s no time limit for solving it I don’t know, but my time may come. I may reach the point where I’m all, “WTF? I am SICK of looking at these six letters and not getting any more words out of them!” And some of the words get more obscure. Some of them, I don’t know and just get by chance, screwing around.
So, okay, this game gives you a blank crossword form and six letters. you have to use those six letters to form words. If the word is in the crossword they’ve made up, it goes in the grid. If the word is NOT in the crossword they’ve made up, that’s even better, because that’s a bonus word. When the crossword is complete, you get one “coin” for every bonus word you made. You get coins for filling in the special Daily crossword, and you get a gift of coins or a discount off clues.
That’s what you use the coins for: If you’re stumped, you can spend 100 coins to buy a letter in the grid. That might help you figure out what word goes there. Or, you know, not.

Sometimes I try it on. Like, sometimes I try rude words, and often the game recognizes them. Tit works. Haven’t tried boob, but I bet it would work. Sometimes British words or spellings, sometimes obsolete words or spellings. I seldom use the word gnarl, but the game gave me a bonus coin for it.
For someone with a certain turn of mind, a most amusing game.

February 20, 2018 at 8:08amWell spotted. Yes, sometimes I get seven. I have a feeling I’ll get more as I beat the lower levels. Some of them, I breeze through, and some of them, I don’t. Yesterday, I was stuck for, like, EVer on the last word. It was “neck”. Why could I not see neck??? Finally, I did. It helps that you can touch one of those symbols and re-scramble the letters. As they whirl past each other into a new disarrangement, sometimes the word jumps out. Mr. Mild Dyslexia can be our friend.
