Silver Lining #1LinerWeds

Long-time readers (I know there must be one of you out there) may have noticed that I’ve changed my blogging schedule for Tuesday and Wednesday. Food now appears on Tuesday, with its regular link to my Tuesday Fatal Foodies post. Wednesday is now either One-Liner Wednesday, Wordless Wednesday, or Grab Bag.

So.

I’ve been doing a lot of horrible-orrible hairy-scary lawyery stuff. But I got to do this:

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said MARIAN L. ALLEN has hereunto set her hand and seal.

As my grandpa would have said, “Now, how ’bout that, then?”

Sure fancier than how Grandpa would have put it: “Slap yer John Hancock on this.”

Hmmm…. I think I just did three one-liners for the price of one.

One-Liner Wednesday is the brain child of Linda G. Hill. Visit her blog for a weekly one-liner and click through the links in her comments for more.

A WRITING PROMPT BASED ON MY POST: Write about grandfathers and hairy-scary lawyery things.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Leave it to the lawyers to make a simple thing complicated. That’s what being paid by the word will get you.

    Your will?

Whenever I had to sign something for my mother’s estate, my lawyer (who was based in Chicago) would send the document with all these “SIGN HERE” and “INITIAL HERE” stickers on it. Was quite helpful.

Oh, yes, I love those! Mom was always all about the sticky notes and tabs, so it makes me happy to see them in any context, because it makes me think of her. 🙂

This wasn’t my will; it was a warranty deed putting Mom’s house in my husband’s name as well as mine.
