A Bear of a #Caturday

Hi, there! I’m Tipper Allen, and guess what? Story A Day May is over, and also I’m an only cat again. I did feel sorry for Sweetie Pie for getting sick, but Momma said Sweetie Pie went to the Rainbow Bridge to be wif Granny, so that’s okay.

I gotted a new toy! Momma says it’s an old toy. She says it looks like it came through the flood wif Noah, whatever that means, but I like it! It comed from Granny’s house. Momma said she gave all the nicest stuffed toys to the firemen to give to kids who are scared when their houses get burned up. She tossed this toy to me and said, “You want this ol’ raggedy-butt bear?”

And I went like dis:

I hate dis nasty toy! Take it away before I kills it!

And den I was like dis:

Don’t take de raggedy-butt bear! I loves it! It my baby! It my precious!

So I got to keep it and snuggle it and bite its head and evvything. <3

You look pretty happy with raggedy-butt bear, Tipper. Are you going to give him a name, or just go with raggedy-butt, or RB? It’s good you have a friend, ‘cuz something tells me you’re going to be an only cat for a long time.

I think RB is a good name for that bear! And, yes, unless something totally unexpected happens, Tipper will always be an only cat.

We are down to the stuffed animals.

We found Bear and Bear’s Brother. Youngest daughter promises she will deal with the rest next time (which will be the last time she’ll probably come to the only place she lived as a child.

Oldest used to chew on Bear’s nose (yeah, disgusting), which I replaced twice. Then Bear was left on a lamp and got a burn. Then the caretaker left Bear at a store, and we thought we’d never see Bear again. We bought Bear’s Brother (a sweet Gun bear) – and Bear turned up!

Middle child had Oatmeal (bear), which youngest coopted.

Sad when you have to give away things with history, but there are four large bins of all the stuffed guys my youngest every received – or inherited.

    One last mailing…

I gave a few particular stuffed animals to particular people, gave some holiday-themed ones to the retirement community mom lived in at the end, and gave the rest to the fire department to give to children in emergency situations. Mom would have loved that.

Don’t worry, Tipper, I have TWO old bears…and a kangaroo. They’re all over 60 now and still cuddly. 🙂

Raggedy Butt Bear may be an oldie, but it’s a goodie, too!
Last week, Sadie took Paddington out of the rocking chair and carried him to the entry. We all gasped and said No and Drop It and she did. I realized her precious Fernando the tiger must not be available to her, so we all hadda hunt for Fernando. He was under the green chair. Paddington is safe in his spot once again.

In a way, I’m glad Tipper won’t be too sad about Sweetie Pie, cause sad pets are a whole other sadness on top of our own sadness. Imagine the toys at the Rainbow Bridge… Prolly a lot of beloved raggedies.

Yeah, makes me wish I had buried her Goonie Bird with her, but I just couldn’t. Goonie Bird is there in spirit. It’s certainly been baptized enough. She baptized stuffed animals daily. At least daily. Goonie Bird was a terrible backslider, and had multiple baptisms, along with Orange Cat and Baby Polar Bear #1.
