Daisy’s #ThursdayDoors

So Charlie and I went to New Albany (Indiana) to take some books to the Friends of the Library book sale building there. We stopped at Destinations Booksellers (AWESOMESAUCE!), and then had lunch at Daisy’s.

Boring doors, interesting surround, lights for Joey.

The sign below says, “Line starts here.” I thought it said, “LIFE starts here.” I was like, Ah, people who understand my relationship with food. I’m in the right place.

Door to kitchen, where the magic happens, interesting clock, many lights.
Door to outside, another interesting clock. yes lights.

Outside the bathroom doors. Thought of Joey’s Friday post.

Charlie had liver and onions and was surprised that it wasn’t good. He used to love liver and onions, but he hasn’t eaten it for so long (because of health concerns), he’s lost his taste for it. I can’t decide if that’s a happy or a sad. I had Roast Beef Manhattan, one of my favorites from childhood, when we used to get it at some lunch counter in downtown Louisville, back when ladies (and little girls) wore dresses and white gloves to shop downtown. Mine was BELICIOUS!!!!!!!

Look, Joey! Veggie plate! ALL THE SIDES

I am just all about Joey today, aren’t I? You would think this was Thursday Joey instead of Thursday Doors. But, no, it’s Thursday Doors, part of a link up hosted by Norm Frampton, photographer extraordinaire. Visit his site, enjoy his wonderful photographs, click on the blue frog link, and enter a world of doors.

A WRITING PROMPT BASED ON MY PROMPT: Write about two clocks. Make them show different times. Also: Life starts here.

I feel all aglow in the idea that you have thoughts of me and my happiness — doors, bbq sides, lights, and all!
What a wonderful thing, to be thought of so often! Thank you!

A couple years ago, I started liking strawberries and stopped liking mango. The two events were within a few weeks and I declared it happy sad. Still do.

I like liver and onions, but I’d rather have the Manhattan — turkey preferably.

    Great doors and thanks again!

I love the way we think about the other folks in our community when we’re out and about. Liver and onions used to be a favorite of mine, but I’ve only ever had it in one restaurant (based on strong recommendation). I tried making it for my wife – it was good, but she didn’t like it. So, I haven’t had it in many years and I don’t really miss it. I would never order it out, for fear that it would be bad and I’d be 🙁

I’m glad your meal was great and I’m glad you took the tie to snap a few photos and share them with us.

Yeah, like people snapping arches and ghost doors and cranes for each other. I love that.

There’s a door that makes an entrance! I had to eat liver as a child – for anemia so it’s most definitely not my favorite!

LOL! I cooked liver for Charlie once. I liked it so much, I ate two helpings. Then I was sick all evening. I think I’m allergic or something!

Good thing I just had lunch before stopping by or I’d be thinking about eating again.
From the menu along it sure looks like a fine down-home style place. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂

It was exactly that: fine, down-home style food. And I love it when plain doors get fancied up. I love stone and brick.
