Hot Air Hasselback #Food #Vegetarian

I posted today’s post yesterday, so I have to do another post today, because I post every day, because I just do, that’s why.

So I got me a Gourmia Hot Air Fryer and I love it love it love it! Can one love two kitchen appliances, or must I hate one and love the other?

ANYWAY, I have an Instant Pot AND a Hot Air Fryer, and I luuuuurrrrrvvvvv them both.

The Hot Air Fryer’s come-with cookbook is kinda lame, so I ordered The Vegan Air Fryer by J. L. Fields. Here’s something I made from it:

Hasselback Potato

I haven’t made these for the longest time! They don’t really work very well in the toaster oven, and I am so not going to heat up a whole entire oven to make two of these, so that was a little sad. But my wee li’l Hot Air Fryer is just big enough for two (maybe three) of these, so joy!!

To make Hasselback potatoes, you put a potato in a spoon or something so you can slice it almost all the way through. Brush it with butter and bake it until it’s almost done. Brush it with more butter with garlic in, sprinkle with salt, and finish baking. I sprinkled some cheese on and popped them back in until the cheese melted. Total cooking time in the HAF was 30-40 minutes at 390.

After I took the potatoes out onto our plates, I topped mine with more cheese and some pepper.

Just as good as I remembered, and way lots easier. Slicing the potato makes the slices crisp up, so this is like a wonderful cross between a baked potato and potato chips. Umm-yumm!

Mary and I have an Instant Pot and a Breville oven, which is a combination air fryer/convection oven/toaster oven/probably a bunch of other stuff, too. Between those two and the microwave, we haven’t used the oven in the stove in months, and rarely use the range. These new appliances are great, aren’t they?

Oh, yes, I love these two new gizmos! That Breville oven sounds super nifty! If we ate more meat, I’d probably go for that. What I’m jonesing for now is a wee li’l hibachi. I just can’t see firing up a full-sized grill to do one yellow squash, you know?

I love a Hasselback potato as well. I make them 2-3 times a year, because of all the potato dishes I love, I’d say it’s near the end of my list. But I love potatoes!
    Curry.
The Mister just asked me Friday when we’re ever going to have curry again and I said, “It takes all day to make naan.” Then he said we could just buy naan and I screwed up my face and left the room. Yesterday I asked Moo if one day she will make naan, and she said yes, so I guess we’ll be doing it soon. Not this weekend though, cause too many events.

I need a magic naan maker. Or a Moo. You sent me her recipe, but you forgot to pack the Moo, so…. But it wouldn’t matter. Charlie doesn’t like curry, so no curry for me! Sometimes I add curry powder at the table, but it isn’t the same. Not the same, at all.

I WILL send you the recipe for naan.
If I happen to make the curry when you’re in town, I’ll bring you a plate! šŸ™‚
