Americans of Meatless Diversity #FridayRecommends

A fabulous friend sent me this link, and Imma share it with you. It’s from Americans of Conscience, prepared by Jennifer Hoffman. Ms. Hoffman puts together a weekly action checklist to help people contact their congressional representatives of various issues. Is it just for Democrats? No, it is not. Here’s what she says:

A word to Republican friends

You are not the enemy. You’re a fellow American concerned about the direction of our country. We have that in common.

Conservatives like Susan CollinsJohn McCainLindsey Graham, and other Republicans are publicly opposing unethical decisions in spite of pressure to conform. This takes courage.

If you believe that we’re Americans first and party second, your voice is more needed than ever.

That’s why she calls it AMERICANS of Conscience. Her list is for Republicans, Independents, Democrats, ebbybody!

Friday RecommendsOkay, you know how we have a vegan daughter, and how Charlie and I have been generally gravitating toward eating more vegan (or at least vegetarian)? Well, I found a new website to help. It’s called One Green Planet, and it has articles like this one on how to make meatless taste meatier. Our daughter doesn’t want her food to taste meaty, ’cause she thinks meat is gross, so this isn’t much help in cooking for her, but it is for us.

You know what’s cool in the summer? What’s cool in the summer is that Pam, aka The Unconventional Librarian, does a Summer Diversity Reading Roundup of picture books to Middle Grade books containing or exploring diversity. So you can check out her suggestions and buy or borrow the books. Cool!

I’m at InConJunction Fantasy and Science Fiction Convention this weekend. Selling books, I hope. Also meeting up with Joey, I also hope! I’ll still be blogging, though. No rest for the wicked.

A WRITING PROMPT BASED ON MY POST: Write about fixing a meal for someone who eats outside your character’s culture.

Thanks, Dan! I’ve set up blog posts in advance, and I’ll be checking for comments, if I have time.

I went over to a shop after I left you today, and I engaged in a conversation with an IndyGo driver who’d just finished her shift. She said she was lookin forward to her son’s vegan tacos and we had a nice chat about how tacos are good no matter what you put on em and it was very pleasant and then we all wanted to go home with her and eat her son’s tacos but she did not invite us. 😛

SO GLAD you let me hang out with you today 🙂 It was GREAT to see you!

So much fun! I ended up buying a set of ammonites from the amber guy. And Sara bought a silver and amber tree pendant. And T bought a big amber drop set in silver. I’m pretty sure he did well at the event. 😀
