InConJoey #InConJunction18 #ThursdayDoors

Yay! I got to see Joey again this year! She is a most heart heart heart blogger, and makes me laugh as often as not, and only when she means to. So yay!

Actually, I went to InConJunction fantasy and science fiction convention, but Joey, as you know, lives in Indy, and she was kind enough to come to the con and visit with me. I needed the private head space of visiting with a friend who is not also in the business. So many talk! Such people! Yak yak yak smile smile. I love being in amongst like-minded folks, but we talk A LOT when we get together, and sometimes I need to give my ears a break from books sales movies fan fan.

But the convention was WONDERFUL. The hotel, the Indianapolis Marriott East, is the best hotel in the whole wide world!

And there were doors. You didn’t think I would forget the doors, did you?

Approaching. Gateways and arches and doors–Oh, my!
The Door

Best staff anywhere!

The glorious Glendoris
The marvelous Montez

Doors and lights and suchlike.

There was a super-cool organization called Motley Kids that had a daycare/activity center for kids that kept them amused and safe. Here are some Daleks they made!

Then there were the people and other critters.

And, of course,

JOEY!

MA tilting her head up in an embarrassing attempt to disguise how many chins she has.

As Joey said on her blog the other day, she got to sit in the Batmobile! And get her picture tooken there! I only took a picture of the Batmobile sans Joey, which made it look sad. Cool, but sad. Red bat riveted on the DOOR.

Because we never pack up until everything is all over, I got to see the Batmobile in action!

Pretty nifty, watching it drive past. It drove slowly, but I took the picture fast, so you can imagine it speeding around the parking lot.

This post really has been part of Thursday Doors, a weekly link-up managed by Norm Frampton, photographer extraordinaire. Visit his site, enjoy his photographs, click on the blue frog link, and enter a world of doors.

A WRITING PROMPT BASED ON MY POST: A character sees something totally unexpected and apparently out of place.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

Your cup of doors overfloweth. Also, warning, your enthusiasm is showing. Any aspirations toward nonchalance or hip sangfroid are totally blown now. But, I’m glad you enjoyed your time at the Con!

I used up all my hip sangfroid back in the 70s. My mother warned me to save some for later, but would I listen? Of course not! And here I am in my old age, doomed to bounce around going YAY at stuff. It’s a sad picture. But you can’t tell a teen anything.

InConJunction is not quite a relaxacon (actual fannish term for a convention at which the main purpose is to pal around with your fannish friends), but it’s relatively small and low-key. Just what I like.
