More From Penzeys!

So #4 Daughter, the amazing Sara Marian, turned me on to Penzeys Spices and I got some. Well, I got some more. They were giving away a HUGE bottle of cinnamon/sugar for FREE with an order!

WHAT DID I GET?

Cinnamon Sugar, containing … um … let me see … oh, yeah: cinnamon and sugar.
Old World Seasoning, containing paprika, salt, sugar, celery, garlic, onion, black pepper, parsley, dill seed, caraway seed, turmeric, dill weed, bay leaf, marjoram, thyme, savory, basil, and rosemary. You need to use more than I used, because the wide variety of things means there isn’t much of any one thing in a given quantity of the whole.

AAaaAND…

Turn on your food.

Raspberry Enlightenment. How could an old hippy possibly resist that?? And, for you youngsters, that isn’t “Turn on your food” as in “betray it unexpectedly”. That’s as in “If your food is dull, turn it on.” Turn it on has an additional meaning for us old hippies, but, alas, the ingredients are only raspberries, sugar, water, tapioca starch, spices, citric acid. The spices aren’t specified, but I doubt any of them are what I’m thinking of.

ANYWAY, we put some on tilapia, and it was very good. We decided it would be stellar on chicken. Next time I get some Amish thighs (that still sounds vaguely illicit), Imma use some of this on them.

I’m posting today at Fatal Foodies about naan pizza, because I put the fusion in confusion. Or something.

A PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about a spice.

Write about a spice…I am adding that to the list today. I have to think about that one for a bit…I am leaning toward cinnamon. I have a tricky relationship with THYME too…

#4 Daughter wanted to make cookies all on her own when she was much younger. She made ginger cookies. BOY, did she make ginger cookies. Did you know that 4 teaspoons of ginger is a whole lot more than 1/4 teaspoon?

Oh, man, take The Mister with you to curb your impulses! I’m considering discarding all my previous spices and just using Penzeys!
