The Most Important One #FridayRecommends

Only one recommendation this Friday, because it’s the most important one. IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT! Do you get the impression that I think this is important? Good, good.

When I was in junior high school, I had to take Civics. It impressed me deeply. I registered to vote as soon as I was old enough, and I’ve voted in every election since. I haven’t always voted wisely, but I’ve always voted.

Why?

BECAUSE IT’S IMPORTANT. It isn’t only important that you vote FOR or AGAINST a candidate or proposition, it’s also important that you exercise your right to fucking VOTE!

Here, let these survivors of a school shooting tell you about it:

So, yeah. Register to vote. Then vote. Or, as John Adams put it: “Now, VOTE, dammit!”

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Imagine being told you are not allowed to vote.

Done – but will have to keep goosing the spouse as the last day to register is also the day our extended taxes are due.

Also, I did it online – and always worry when they say it may take 4 weeks to get the card, by which point it will be too late if it didn’t work.

Goose that spouse, Alicia! Hope the card comes in time. If it doesn’t, check online and see if you’re registered okay, even if you don’t have the card.

I am registered to vote đŸ™‚ These kids are amazing. Not all young people vote, ya know. Some of them think the grown ups will handle it and then they end up really, really shocked and bummed out when the wake up the day after elections. Then they register to vote, cause better late than never.
