Delicious Death. Kids, Do Not Try This At Home

It makes me sad that I have a friend who’s allergic to hazelnuts. I love hazelnuts. I drink hazelnut coffee everest chanst that I get.

Most of all, I love Nutella.

Nutella, mon amour

And you know what they had at the Sweet ‘N’ Savory food truck at Imaginarium creative writing convention? They had Nutella and banana crepes! And I didn’t get any, because I already had breakfast and they were too huge to have for snackies.

You know, if I knew a hazelnut and banana crepe would kill me, that would totally be my suicide method of choice.

I’m posting today at Fatal Foodies about another allergen that snuck up on us in a box of dried pineapple chunks.

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Is your main character allergic to anything? How allergic?

I don’t get the hype on Nutella, but it’s because I’m not crazy about hazelnuts. The Mister likes hazelnut, but he isn’t crazy about Nutella. Sassy likes to get Nutella shakes at Steak n’ Shake and she makes sorta moaning noises about it, too. She’s also obsessed with almond butter, and we’re like, “It’s good, but it ain’t slap yer mama good.” It’s great to live in a world with so many tastes for all the peoples 🙂
Now, about that pineapple. >..< Not okay. Glad friend is okay.

She double-checks ingredients lists, so she didn’t eat them unaware. She didn’t even tell me about the label; I saw it when I unpacked at home. She’s a pro!

Miam! I like Nutella, but I’m not overly crazy about it. I rarely buy it cause-calories! I love Hazelnuts but mostly I call them Filberts b/c that’s what my Mom called them.

We called them filberts, too. When I started hearing about hazelnut this and hazelnut that, I thought it was a different thing. lol

Get your friend some addictive stuff called MapoSpread.
    Nutella is good.
    But this has no nuts.
    Sure I am evil!

My hazelnut-allergic friend might like it, but my gluten-intolerant friend would hate it–not a fan of maple. I know, right? I don’t think she can even enter Canada legally.

    I’m allergic to hazelnuts, too!

Too bad, because I love them. I’m not even sure if I’m still allergic, or if it’s just to large amounts of them at a time (more of a food intolerance than an allergy), but I haven’t had a chance or the time to test, and I don’t need problems right now!

No, you sure don’t need problems! You don’t need to take the chance. As much as I love hazelnut flavor, I’d do without it if the alternative was hives.
