Those pesky scammers! They’re always up to something! Steven Saus of Alliteration Ink and Ideatrash and all around right guy sent out this warning from Lifehacker: Sign Your Address Up For USPS Informed Delivery Before Scammers Do. So I did. Go thou, and do likewise.
I hadn’t heard from Martin Cavannagh of Reedsy in a while, so I was delighted to hear from him yesterday. Reedsy has a new feature, a Character Name Generator. I played wif it a little bit–WAY FUN. I have a digital character name generator sitting right here next to me. It’s called a Baby Names from Around the World book. But it’s always a good idea to have multiple sources of inspiration. Oh, and they also have a downloadable character sheet that hits all the buttons. Go for it!
L. Marrick of Mythic Beasts Studios has called for entries to MBS’s last free short story contest, this one about Medusa. After this one, there’ll be an entry fee of under $20 American to fund the prize, which is $300 and a chance at filmdom. The site says:
Mythraeum hosts four short story contests a year, each one about a mythological archetype or character.
As of this point, the contests are free and the winner receives $300.
Eventually, a small entry fee will apply to the contests, and a portion of every entry fee will go to increase the total prize money. (Yay!)
Every year, one of the four winning mythic short stories will be chosen for development as a short film.
You can read more about the writing contests in the Writers FAQ.

Here’s something that is NOT a myth: Vaccinations help halt, mitigate, and control the spread of preventable diseases. If you have any doubt, visit the Vaccine Confidence Project. Tip of the hat to Roy A. Ackerman, PhD, E.A., for the link.

November 16, 2018 at 1:05pmInformed delivery sends me an email daily about what should be in my mailbox. They’ve only been wrong once in the past three months (important mail for my sister and her husband was NOT delivered, because she didn’t put ‘c/o Ehrhardt’ on it; I think it was sent back).

November 17, 2018 at 8:08amI still have to confirm my authenticity or some such. I tried to do it online, but they asked me questions I didn’t know the answer to. A scammer would probably know the answers. heh
