‘Tis the season.
The season for what?
The season for giving.
The season for giving to whom?
To those who need.
Well, and kids.
But mostly to those who need. Of course, need knows no season, so bear that in mind. But we’re very happy in our family to buy presents for our under-18s only. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on grownups who already have everything they need (yes, we’re deeply aware of how lucky we are), we give to funds and stuff.
This first link is to an art collective in Louisville. I’m always up for art, and this community is struggling to thrive in the West End of Louisville, my old stompin’ grounds. It’s called The Mammoth Art Collective, and Per Bastet Publications has bought a table at their pop-up art event tonight.
One of my favorite authors, Barry J. Huchison, sends out newsletters to Team Space Team (of which, naturally, I am a member). In the latest one, he said that a bookstore he loves, the Big Green Bookshop, an indie bookshop in London, is teaming up with Shelter, an organization to aid homeless and badly housed people to buy books for their clients. Big Green Bookshop also have a Twitter campaign called #BuyAStrangerABook.
My online pal and fellow writer Damyanti Biswas is involved with an organization called Project WHY, which supports women and children and, through them, communities. Right now, Project WHY is running a fundraiser for a sewing circle, which gives women economic independence and security. The fundraiser has exceeded its goal, which means than any additional money makes the project more far-reaching than it hoped.
People do use the internet for more than watching videos of cute cats. Although:

December 7, 2018 at 8:47amI enjoy shopping in unique venues wherein I can find items that are a little bit different. Oddly enough today I wrote about a stranger [useless sales help in certain stores] and books [purchased in a nice store]. And I added a cute puppy video. Great minds, eh?

December 9, 2018 at 8:36amI think it’s amazing, how much effect showing one person respect can do. Imagine what we could do if we all lifted each other up all the time.
