There are many ways to encourage someone to stay the course, or to celebrate their tenacity. One of my elementary school teachers called determination “good old American sticktoitiveness.”
The other day, a friend laid a new one on me. Another friend of hers was admiring her strong will by saying:
You keep hanging on like a hair in a biscuit.
If you’ve ever found a hair sticking out of a biscuit and have ever attempted to withdraw it, you’ll appreciate that simile.

I love a Biscoff or two with my cuppa tea.

December 13, 2018 at 9:45amThese are American biscuits, Deborah–more like what you would call scones. But Biscoff biscuits would work, too. Yuck! 😀

December 13, 2018 at 2:01amIt is somewhat gross but if ever I’ll see a hair sticking on my biscuit it think I’m just gonna throw it.

December 13, 2018 at 9:46amIf I find a hair in a biscuit out somewhere, I’m with you on throwing it. If it’s at home, it’s probably mine, anyway–or my cat’s! lol
