Davis, not Midler, although Midler had some one-liners that would make your hair as curly as hers. Love her!
No, I was thinking about All About Eve, and one of the most iconic one-liners in filmdom.
This would be filed under the heading of Lines At The Beginning Of A Party To Make You Put On Your Hat And Slip Quietly Away:
Fasten your seatbelts; it’s going to be a bumpy night.
My favorite one-liner of Ms. Midler’s will be supplied upon request, as if you couldn’t guess.
This post is part of Linda G. Hills weekly blog hop, One-Liner Wednesday. If you have a one-liner or just like them, follow the link.A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write a scene for which that one-liner is appropriate, but not in the original way.

January 16, 2019 at 8:00amWell, now I gotta request it. Would Ms. Midler have been as famous had her name rhymed with a pier, rather than what one becomes after jumping off that pier?
Cheers,
Mitch

January 16, 2019 at 9:55amOMG, you CRACK me UP! Okay, so my favorite quote from The Divine Miss M comes at the end of her heartfelt sharing that some people find her style and humor offensive, and that she has something to say about that: “FUCK ‘EM, IF THEY CAN’T TAKE A JOKE!”

January 16, 2019 at 10:10amLOL! Okay. That one.
I hear characters reference that, all the time. Never knew she was the source. 🙂
Cheers,
Mitch

January 16, 2019 at 10:55amI don’t know that she IS the source, or even that such a basic sentiment is sourceable, but I love the way she says it! 😀

January 16, 2019 at 11:56amI adore Bette Middler. I like her comment that eventually all women go blonde. She was referencing brunettes with gray hair, trying to hide it with blonde. I’ve come to realize that no truer words have been said about middle age women.

January 16, 2019 at 12:28pmFunny! I decided not to hide mine. I like pulling age on folks. “Carry my heavy bags? Why thank you, young man!” If I were looking for a date, or my husband looked way younger than I do, I would probably go blonde, myself. And that makes me think of Oscar Wilde’s line about the widow whose hair went quite blonde with grief.
