The Grape Leaf #ThursdayDoors

This month’s Janie Day was at The Grape Leaf, a “Pan-Mediterranean” restaurant.

The sadness is that they don’t serve liquor but, if they’re Muslim, that makes sense. And the food is intoxicatingly delicious, so who needs booze, really?

Sara parked in “a municipal parking lot” that I pointed out is actually a church parking lot. She was all, “The lot’s empty and if they’re real Christians they won’t mind.” Fair enough, and it’s her car, so there we were.

The happiness is that we went down these stairs to reach the sidewalk.

2007 This wall made possible by the generosity of:

Ninth District Metro Council
St. Francis of Rome Community

Transit Authority of River City
A gift in honor of Mary Sansbury

“River City” is the nickname Louisville, Kentucky calls itself.

So we went to the restaurant.

The following gallery is lamp-heavy for Joey!

Alas, the gyro wasn’t vegetarian. Gyros are my secret sin. I generally don’t mind eating meat, but baby animals are just wrong. To me, now: YMMV. I have a gyro maybe once a year, and it’s always the lamb/beef mix. Yes, I am ashamed. I own it.

It was delicious.

ANYWAY, Thursday Doors is the brainchild of Norm Frampton, photographer extraordinaire. Visit his site, enjoy his photographs, click on the frog link, and enter a world of doors.

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about a grape leaf. Or a fig leaf. Real or metaphorical.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

You might? Yay! And thanks for gyro dispensation, but I still feel bad for the little baby sheepies.

Everything in moderation and hey, if you have the self-control to indulge only once a year then you’re doing pretty darn good.

Those are some fabulous lamps! I love Mediterranean foods. I’m a falafel, dolmathes, baba ganoush kinda gal. I don’t eat lamb. Well, I say I don’t eat lamb, but the truth is I don’t want to eat lamb or veal. In the event I am in a formal dinner I will eat a few bites for the sake of good manners. I think it’s a good policy for me. I think your owning-it policy is also good.
I loved the intro to this piece, too. Good humor, you haz it.

I stopped eating frog legs when I found out they don’t kill the frogs before they tear the legs off. Love frog legs, but not that much.
