Value #1LinerWeds

My mother, who passed a year ago today, was sweet, but she had her sharp side, too.

If somebody obviously thought highly of himself, she would say (behind his back, of course; she wasn’t that cutting):

If you could buy him for what he’s worth and sell him for what he thinks he’s worth, you’d make a tidy profit.

Or “you’d make a right smart piece of change,” depending on how colloquial she was feeling at the time.

Miss you, Mom!

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about somebody who thinks better of him/herself than is warranted. Or write about somebody sweet with a touch of vinegar.

I like that! I know a few people who present that investment opportunity to the world.

Like Dan Antion, (and your mum) I know a number of such individuals.
Well, I guess we are lucky~!

    (Now THAT was sarcasm!)

Incidentally my aunts had the same saying, so it is OLD. AND correct~!

Aunts in Canada had the same saying? Cool! Depending on the exchange rate, if we bought him for what he’s worth in one country and sold him for what he thinks he’s worth in the other, we could make out like bandits!!

Yes, we could. Well, you have a POTUS for sale and we have a PM. The problem is nobody wants either one of them. This leaves us will an aging William Shatner, and a somewhat valueless Pete! We will just have to keep searching!

My mom was a hoot and a half. Grandpa used to say, “I don’t know what you two are talking about half the time, but I love hearing you laugh together.”

    Ouch!

But without a sharp side, the sweet is a bit too cloying. You have to know the sharp is being reined in to know to wait for it.

Wish I’d known your mom. Mine had the same character feature? flaw? bug?
