Warble #StoryADayMay #1LinerWeds

Today’s story is based on a true incident that happened this morning. My Holly prompt was warble, and my Story A Day prompt was to write three paragraphs from three points of view with three different emotions.

But, first, here’s my one-liner for Wednesday, one of my grandpa’s jokes.

Free! Free as a cat should be! Damp grass beneath my pads, outside smells filling my nostrils from every side, birds warbling above me, around me! He thought we were in the basement, eating, but he only needed to leave the doors open for a moment, and we were out! My sister let herself be caught, but I was too canny. Off and away, beyond the bush, beyond the tree, beyond the shed! Free!

Where is he where is he where is he? My brother is gone! My brother! We were right together, being naughty and scaring our hooman daddy, but he made a mistake and ran the wrong way. Our hooman daddy picked me up, like he was supposed to do, but my brother went the wrong way and went far away and far away! I climb in the windows and call him and call him, but he doesn’t answer. Our hooman mommy is crying, like a bird in the night: hoo, hoo, hoo. I’m crying louder, ’cause it’s my brother gone. Gone far away!

Where are you, you scoundrel? You acted like you were starving, but as soon as I opened the door, you were up the steps and out. Wife says it’s all right, because I got my cat back. I tell her I don’t make any difference between mine and hers, that I’ve come to like hers, mostly because he keeps my rascal in line. She tries to comfort me, but I have no comfort for her. I let her cat out, and he’s gone, and it’s my fault. Now she’s out on the porch in her house shoes, calling him, her voice high and quavering like birdsong. That scoundrel! That scoundrel! My fault! My fault! –Oh! He came! She has him! He’s in! Are you sorry, you scoundrel? Not as sorry as I am. Flick your tail. You’re not as sorry as I am.

This post is part of Linda G. Hill’s weekly blog hop, One-Liner Wednesday. If you have a one-liner or just like them, follow the link.

MY PROMPTS TODAY: Warble, three paragraphs, three points of view, three emotions.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.

My parents always caused me of eating like a bird. The type of bird would vary with their mood. Some are not real bird names ?
