My Deal Me In deck dealt me a heart, which means the marvelous Alicia Butcher Ehrhardt.
I chose one of her Drabbles (100-word story). She tells me most of these were written years ago, but they all show glimpses of her current masterwork. If you haven’t already bought and read the first volume, PRIDE’S CHILDREN: PURGATORY, do so.
You Do What You Have To Do
by Alicia Butcher Ehrhardt
When your did has a beloved pet but times are hard, you do what you have to do.
As always with Alicia’s work, highly recommended.
If YOU need a short story to read, I have free ones here on my Free Reads page. I also have four collections for 99 cents each linked from my Short Stories page.
A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write a story of 100 words, not counting the title.

June 3, 2019 at 12:09pmYou really know how to jump-start a writer’s heart on a Monday morning.
I’m sure it was an influence – remember Don Johnson in the role? – but I had entirely forgotten about A Boy… when that one came to mind. Sorry, but there is a tiny gruesome part to me, and those dark drabbles pull it out. Let it out?
I’m trying something new today: no Coke until the internet is blocked for the day’s writing. Since that’s my only source of caffeine, it should help cut through the slowness.
Thanks! Happy writing to you, too.
