So I had to go to Lanesville the other day to do some bidniss on my mother’s estate, specifically to the Thrivent office. In case you don’t want to follow the link, Thrivent is a money management and investment service specifically for Lutherans, of which my mother was one. She was ELCA, not Missouri Synod, so that’s what the Lutheran link leads to.
ANYWAY, the man I was meeting is, in his words, semi-retired, so we met by appointment. In tribute to my mother, I left early enough to get there in time in case I got lost, and got there early, so I went on a brief doorscursion.
I found this gorgeous little porch.
Here’s the front door of the office.
I don’t know the Kennards who have the insurance company, but they’re either smart in trying to put insurance into people’s minds, or unwise in setting themselves up for payouts, because this is the wooden construction you glimpse to the left of the picture.
To the right of the office I was waiting for is the building that used to be an awesome little hardware store, Zabel’s. Now, it’s a General Store. I would have loved to go in, but it was closed for a family reunion, which also made me happy.
Not sure why this photograph appealed to me, but I snapped it.
Oh …. Wait a minute …. Let’s zoom in …. Ah, yes!
Then I spotted this little darling, with a stack of wood next to it.
I love Lanesville. I hope to bring more pictures from there, sometime. It’s full of interesting bits, bobs, and buildings.

A wonderful and varied collection of doors this week: bravo.
And I’m gonna guess that the visual cacophony of all those electric wires offset by one simple red stop sign is what drew you to take that shot. Whatever the reason, I’m glad you did.
