Mom never used this one-liner to refer to green beans or liver and onions or stewed tomatoes or any dinner food I didn’t like. She reserved it for treats I tried and rejected. (I was a very picky kid. Spent hours sitting in front of congealing plates of “nasty” food.)
ANYWAY, now I use it for anything I particularly like that is declined by others:
Good–that leaves more for me.
This post is part of Linda G. Hills weekly blog hop, One-Liner Wednesday. If you have a one-liner or just like them, follow the link.

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Someone offers something they like which is declined.

July 3, 2019 at 11:11amThat never worked with my kids. I’m glad it worked on somebody!

July 4, 2019 at 7:44amIt never worked with Charlie. His reply to, “That leaves more for me” was and is, “You’re welcome to it.”

July 3, 2019 at 3:58pmI remember hearing that on a few things that I didn’t want to try as a child, but enjoy as an adult. Particularly, fried mushrooms along with steak, What an idiot…

July 4, 2019 at 7:49amMushrooms is (are?) one of the few squidgy things Little Miss Picky here would always eat. I attribute it to going with someone Mom and I were staying with in the country to gather them in the field. She was like, “If you find some, don’t touch them; just show them to me and I’ll pick them if they’re good.” Nothing like knowing where you food comes from to enhance the flavor.

July 3, 2019 at 5:38pmI say that sometimes now, but never heard my parents say it when I didn’t want to eat Hot Dogs, hominy, or black eyed peas. My least favorite foods! I’ll make a peanut butter and jelly sammich over those any day.

July 4, 2019 at 7:50amI always loved hot dogs, but hominy and black eyed peas had to grow on me. Nathan’s all beef wieners are SO GOOD!
