Two Shapiro’s and a Joey #ThursdayDoors

The other partners of Per Bastet and I went to InConjunction to sell books. Which we did. But, as I said, T went to sell books, Sara went to be on panels, and I was there for the food.

We went to Shapiro’s Delicatessen on the way there and on the way back. SO GOOD. Plus a little something extra to make me happy. I can’t remember which pictures are from which stop, but they mostly have doors in, so here they are. The one facing you is T. Lee Harris, the one facing away is Sara Marian, and the one hiding his face is our roadie, who chooses to be anonymous.

See that? See that can? That’s Dr. Brown’s Cel-Ray Tonic, and it was just as good as I remembered! I had it both times, and bought two cans to bring home with me. ~happy sigh~

And, no, I didn’t eat the whole sandwich. I ate the matzoh ball soup with noodles and half the sammich and half the pickle, and took the rest with.

In between Shapiro’s-ing, we did InConjunction. The best part was a visit from Joey. No matter how hard I have to people, Joey visits make everything okay.

It gave me the courage to save the world from this Weeping Angel.

Dr. Who Meets The Three Stooges

When we left, we took our gear out of the Shakespeare door. Sara said, “Is it really called The Shakespeare Door?” I said, “No, that’s just what I call it.” Because:

If you’re a little bit dyslexic like me, you get it right away.

Sara drove, so I could take pictures.

I managed a shot of the side of one of those painted power boxes, this one in Indianapolis.

We went through a sunny rainshower, how you do sometimes, and I snapped a picture of a rainbow. It wasn’t until I looked at the picture later that I saw what a lucky shot it was.

A few thousand yards from home, Sara had to brake for wild turkeys on the road. They hid the chicks, but you can barely see the momma and poppa, each conveniently at the base of a lens flare.

And so, home, and very glad to be here. InConjunction was great, as always, especially the Joey. And, of course, the food.

    LOVE Shakespeare door! Haha!
Itโ€™s always wonderful to see you!
You ordered what I order, cept I get seltzer or Coke. I always take half home, and itโ€™s always good there, too!
Iโ€™ve gotten the doors in the area, too, but as with all photos, we may have the same places, but from different perspectives.

Great doors, but I am in full support of going for the food and Joey. Dr Brown’s noted and approved. I have yet to try it, but we do have a deli near us that serves it, so maybe.

You had a close encounter of the Joey kind! I’m guessing this wasn’t the first time the two of you have connected?

Good work on the Weeping Angel. You have my respect!

This is the third time she’s braved the vampires and space jockeys to visit me while I work. It makes it worth it. ๐Ÿ™‚

It seems that whenever you get a bunch of introverts together, we blossom into joy. We know nobody is going to tease us or try to bully us if we say something like, “I need to go be quiet for a while.” This con even has a Fortress of Solitude, where it’s forbidden to communicate with anybody who goes into that room. It’s strictly for recovering from too much input. That makes us free to enjoy one another, knowing we can retreat when we need to, and everybody around us will not only understand, but approve of us for knowing when we’ve had enough.

Yay! Team Cel-Ray! On perfect days, I used to take the bus, before I was old enough to drive, to Louisville’s downtown. I’d get books from the library, then walk up 4th street to Uncle Miltie’s Deli and get a pastrami on rye and a Cel-Ray, then go back and sit on the base of the Lincoln statue outside the library and read and eat. ~sigh~ Happy times.

Even though I can’t eat that salty too often that sandwich looks so yummy I’m not sure there woulda been anything left to bring home.
