CoryDoors – 1816 #ThursdayDoors

So I met some friends in Corydon for lunch at the new 1816 Modern Kitchen and Drinks.

tl;dr: Great fried green tomatoes, did not have Busted Knuckle as advertised, fun time with great company, and DOORS.

On the way, I got this threesome.

Catty-cornered from it, the Kintner House Inn was having sidewalk work done, so I got a crane for Dan!

#4 Daughter use to call these “tooth machines”.

Here’s the restaurant, with lights for Joey.

The name, with lights.

Wooden plaques, burned with appropriate local stuff.

The lying menu board and lights for Joey. I blurred the person out, because I didn’t ask permission to post a photo.

noncommittal brick extrusion is noncommital

And this crazy thing. It’s a real cattle skull, decoratively carved, with white Christmas lights in.

I would go again, though I might take my own beer.

p.s. Happy birthday to me! Guess how old I am. Go ahead–guess. It’s Bill and Ted’s favorite number.

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Someone has a birthday in the presence of a skull.

Happy Birthday! I won’t guess the number because it is irrelevant. Just enjoy your day. The 1816 looks like fun. I like exposed brick walls.

Happy Birthday. Well, AGE is a number. It is how you feel inside. So, 50? (They say 50 is nifty.)

    Marian to Charlie:
Charlie! There is a strange man telling me I have nice doors and lights! And I take great pictures. What do you think of that?
Charlie: Well, he’d be right…. That’s Pete, eh?

By the way, that is an excavating machine, not a crane. so tell Dan.
They also make cute little MINI excavators!

Pete, I’m certain Dan knows a crane from an excavating machine. I’m the dummy! As for how old I feel, I feel older every day, since my sleep apnea machine stopped working. I’m hoping to get a new one within the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile, today I feel about 110. ughhhhh

Happy Birthday! I like the triple treat of doors, the lamps, and the brick walls. That carved skull is pretty neat too.

Well Happy Birthday then! I’m not gonna guess either except to say that I’m quite certain that “1816” sign does not signify your birth year 😉

What an interesting place. Thanks for the crane (attempt). It’s OK, I love cranes, but I like all heavy equipment, so you’re good. I love those boards on the ceiling that the lights are hanging from.

The joint is lousy with visual interest. Fortunately, the food is pretty good, too, especially the fried green tomatoes.

    Happy Belated! xo
I do so like the restaurant frontage, and also the lights. The lights are VERY original, but then it looks like 1816 is my kinda place, so no surprise 🙂

Thanks for the b-day wishes! To be honest, I haven’t been too impressed with the restaurant’s food except for their fried green tomatoes and their bread pudding. Then again, what more do you need?
