My Deal Me In deck turned up spades this week, so I went to Daily Science Fiction and clicked on the Transporter to go to a random story. I’ve had good luck with that, and this time was no exception to that.
“The Show Must”
by Matt London
Wonderful, wonderful story! It’s the day the world is coming to an end. Why or how, or how everybody knows this is the day–those things are not told and we don’t really need to know.
If you’re on Broadway and the world is coming to an end, what do you do? You do the show, of course. Will there be an audience? Hello? New York? Damn straight, there’ll be an audience. Outside, chaos. Inside, purity.
I adore this story! There’s no biography for Matt London on the DSF site, but a bit of internet sleuthing turned up his web site. So yay!

If YOU need a short story to read, I have free ones here on my Free Reads page. I also have four collections for 99 cents each linked from my Short Stories page.
