Sweet Invitation #1LinerWeds

It’s January 1, which begins a new year of monthly Hot Flashes (tiny little stories, around 150 characters long. Nobody even attempted to guess my theme for 2019, so nobody won the prize. Meh.

One of the funnest things about a Christmas party is getting to play with other people’s toys. We got to play Skyrim with a virtual reality headset! Um, the headset immersed one in virtual reality, I mean; the headset, itself, was really really real.

Okay.

So I played, and a Rodent of Unusual Size attacked me, and I was saved by my creepy companion, Lydia, whose resting bitch face is an armed crouch.

Then the amazing Sara Marian played, and she chased down a dragon, killed it, and ate its soul!

What did she say, as she chased the dragon?

C’mere, I wanna pet you with my sword!

She did, too.

“Cute.” That’s the first time my brain has ever been called cute. Lazy, yes. Not right, yes. But never cute. lol

That’s pretty badass. I had to get my son to get me past the dragon the few times I played. Might’ve helped if I’d figured out how to move at all – or had a VR headset. I was fricasseed and burnt on my own sword several times before I just gave up. I move more gracefully in Second Life than I do in Skyrim. (I’m an old thing that prefers the text based RPGs, gratified that tabletop gaming is still alive and well and even flourishing in shops around here.)

I can’t do Second Life. Too many people. If I wanted a full social life, I’d leave the house.

Mind you, I haven’t been there in so long I’m not sure I could log in and I’ve probably lost the lovely hair and clothing and look like an escapee from the landing zone, but Milkwood’s lovely, even if you just wander around or sit under a tree and daydream a while.

I have trees here. Of course, our trees have damp ground and insects and the occasional snake, but we got ’em! 😉

Oh, by the way, I mastered the damned rodents. Probably the only thing in that game I can do, competently, on my own. My son was appalled at how I bashed their little beady brains in, and continued bashing, long after they were dead. Hey, I’ve seen those movies. I’ve written the horror stories. I’ve designed online RPGs. Those tunnel rats were NOT going to get up and come after me as zombies!!!

LOL! I like puzzles, not battles. I was happy to have the creepy companion Lydia dispatch the rodent.
