The actual chickens aren’t funny in this book, but the book, as Jayne Cobb would say, is hi-larious.

I was contacted by author Daisy Pettles (her real name is Vicky Phillips). Although we didn’t know it at the time, she’s a friend of a friend. I don’t know if that makes her or me or the friend Kevin Bacon, but one of us is.

ANYWAY, Daisy Pettles recommended I read her latest book, CHICKENLANDIA MYSTERY: SHADY HOOSIER DETECTIVE AGENCY BOOK 3 and I did and I laughed all the way through it.

The main characters are two women of a certain age who work for a pretty crap boss in a small town in rural Indiana. Anybody know where I live? Anybody? Let’s not always see the same hands. Yes, I live in a small town in rural Indiana.

CHICKENLANDIA features feuds between various chicken owners and poultry product producers. If you think small town mom and pop businesses can’t generate drama, read up on the history of popcorn in Harrison County sometime.

Highly recommended. The book, not the popcorn drama.

A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about an intense rivalry over something other people consider laughable.

I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but now live in the woods in southern Indiana. Though I only write fiction, I love to read non-fiction. The more I learn about this world, the more fantastic I see it is.
