Canada. Keeping their eyes on the prize.

This article from CTVNews tells how medical groups are urging the G20 governments to “focus on climate change with COVID-19 aid packages”.

“A truly healthy recovery will not allow pollution to continue to cloud the air we breathe and the water we drink,” the letter reads in part. “It will not permit unabated climate change and deforestation, potentially unleashing new health threats upon vulnerable populations.”

letter signed by more than 350 medical groups, including the World Medical Association, the Canadian Federation of Medical Students, the Canadian Medical Association and the Conseil des medecins, dentistes et pharmaciens

Will the governments listen? Some will; some won’t. But it has to be said. No, it’s been said; it has to be listened to. Human health and the health of the planet are inextricably entwined. We don’t need to put climate justice on the back burner while we deal with Corona. We need to keep climate justice front and center while we deal with Corona.

They will claim it’s even MORE impossible to do the (also claimed) expensive reparations needed, because of the hit to the world’s economy. And with all the rabid anti-science types out there, they are right.

But the break has demonstrated that some things on our planet heal faster than was believed possible.

    Hope you’re right.
