Thicker Than Blood @StoryADayMay #Caturday #TipperAndChickie

I’m Tipper Allen, and guess what? I get to write the last Caturday story for this year’s Story A Day May challenge!

Momma helped me think of a title. I’ll be glad when she finishes watching this Breaking show she watches all the time. She’s starting to creep me out.

Well, here’s my last story for this year.

Thicker Than Blood

The handsome boy-cat, Rip, sat and stared out the front window, making sure the front yard was safe.

In a minute, he’d start his rounds and check all the windows. Right now, his assistant checker, Rickie, a baby girl-cat, was looking out the side window. She was a good assistant, but she was only a two-year old, and Rip was a big, experienced four.

Then, from out of nowhere — another cat!

Rip growled this really scary growl he does. He knew that cat! It was one of Rickie’s ne’er-do-well nephews from next door!

Rip growled again. “Get away! This isn’t your house! This is my house!”

“Yours and my Aunt Rickie’s,” said the other cat. “I just wanna talk to her. Alone.”

“No way! Get lost! Rickie’s out of that life now. She’s a good, respectable little cat. Go mug a raccoon or something, and leave Rickie alone!”

“Let her make up her own mind. Maybe family is stronger than you think.”

“Don’t make me come out there!”

The other cat dropped his head in defeat.

“Okay, okay, I’ll go.” He trotted off up the driveway.

But Rip knew he’d be back.

With heavy paws, he went to Rickie and confessed.

“One of your nephews came to talk to you and I chased him away. I’m sorry. You’re only just two, but you’re old enough to make your own choices. The next time he comes, I’ll let you know. Family is strong.”

“And you know what I’ll tell him? I’ll tell him family is the strongest thing inna world. And my family is right here in this house. Thanks for looking out for me, brother.”

And the cats and hoomans in Rip’s house lived happily ever after.

THE END

Chickie: My name is CHICKIE and I approve this story.

The eternal question of whether YOU allow someone ELSE to make their own decisions. You do – if they are adults. You don’t – if they are not adults, or if they are not competent. And THEIR competence, decided by YOU, is a tricky situation. Hard one. EVEN IF you confess and they say it was okay.

I would say not to make decisions for others is a good policy.

I USE that in NETHERWORLD. Hehe.

Tipper has the makings of quite a philosopher. You should encourage him to keep writing. And Chickie too, of course. ๐Ÿ˜€
