Chickie Missing Poppy #Caturday #TipperAndChickie

HELLO! My name is CHICKIE!

Yesterday would have been Poppy’s 87th birthday. All my hooman sisters would have come over and brought him presents. Mommy would have made him bean soup and corn bread, because that was his favorite food.

What happened this yesterday was that two of the hooman sisters came over Mommy made bean soup and corn bread for them and they remembered Poppy and laughed and cried.

I remember Poppy, too. This is me on his bed the other day.

I’ve been being good for Mommy. She didn’t like it when I pulled her flat toy out of the book she had it stuck in. So, when I found another flat toy stuck in another book, I didn’t pull it out. I just bit the toy part off.

The rest of the flat thing is still in Mommy’s book, where she seems to want it, even though she can’t make her mind up where she wants it. Every day, she moves it to a different place.

Where the toy part used to be.

That’s a picture of Poppy. #4 Hooman Sister took that picture, when he snuck into a place with her to research some anthropologizing she was doing for school. She thought it was funny, taking his picture in front of this hooman sign.

Now I’ll tell you a secret: Mommy thinks she tricked me about something. She put a way soft blanket on her bed. It’s a blanket that cats like. It’s all picked up, because this old cat she used to have, Amidala, made biscuits on it and picked it all up. So Mommy put it on her bed to lure me onto it. Then she sleeps under it. She thinks she’s tricking me into snuggling her.

The secret is: She’s not tricking me. I’m snuggling her on purpose. I miss my Poppy, but I love my Mommy, too!

p.s. Tipper says hi. He’s been a very sleepy boy this week, maybe because it’s been cooler. Anyway, he says to tell you hi.

A WRITING PROMPT FOR ANIMALS: Do you have a blanket you love to pieces?

Chickie, you sure are getting big. I’m sure you and Mommy and sisters are missing Poppy whole bunches. That is a great photo of him. Enjoy that blankie and don’t overeat. Pace yourself with Mommy’s toys!

I am lucky. Chickie has never been very snuggly before, so I enjoy it when it happens!

You are all feeling the loss very deeply. It will dull a bit eventually, a long time in the future, but how could love ever go away?

I wish there were something I could do.

Nice photo of your Charlie. I remember you two came to my wedding in 1995 so it’s been that long that since I had seen him. Days like this are hard but you have family to help you thru it. Somebuddy else is having a birfday pretty soon. You will receive a surprise from the mailman!

Charlie and I often spoke of that visit. He said you were so sweet and pretty. And you were and you are! <3

I really appreciated you two driving all that way. I felt bad I didn’t get to talk to you much and thought I would see you at the reception. Oh well. Some days i just feel like an old old lady, getting one thing right after another! Have a good week my friend! Hugs!

You are a sweetie, Chickie. I won’t tell your Mommy that you know about her little trick. Sometimes when you miss special people, you just have to snuggle to feel better. -big hugs-
