I can’t remember if I’ve used this one before, but I’ve got it on my mind.
This is something my mother used to say. Now Sara says it to me. I always thought Mom made it up, but Mr. Search Engine tells me it’s quite common. It still tickles me.
She, #4 Daughter, comes to spend a couple-few hours with me almost every day, the way I did with my mother when she lived where Sara lives now.
I’m in the habit of going to bed around 9:00 and sitting up to read for a couple of hours. So Charlie and Mom and now Sara pretend I go to sleep at 9:00.
When Sara gets ready to leave around 9:00, she always says, “It’s about your bedtime.” Then she quotes Mom:
You’re going to turn into a pumpkin.
I wrote a story inspired by the phrase. Goldie.
