These doors aren’t the greatest, but Dr. Ackerman is a harsh taskmaster and demands “real” doors, so I do what I can.
The first doors belong to a storage van across from the recycling center. The recycling center is one of the few places I go. It’s always empty at the early hour I go, so it’s safe.
This is the back of a bank building. If you make a getaway from this door, please note that it faces a busy road.
Another place I go, also at a deserted hour of the morning, is the liquor store. Essentials, yo. The fire house is next door. Yes, I said THE fire house. It used to be all volunteer, but now I think it’s all paid.
I went past THE hospital, so I took a snappy.
And this one has a story with it.
This is a machine shop or something now, but it used to be a popcorn factory. Family business. Best. Popcorn. Ever. When my mother lived in New York state, she used to buy a couple of cases when she came to visit to take back with her. Well, the business got in financial straits due to an economic downturn. A Hollywood actor bought into it. The husband of the family was certain the actor was alienating the affections of the wife of the family, so he drove to California with murder on his mind. He failed, killed himself, nobody local would buy the popcorn after that, and the business closed. True story.
Thursday doors is under the direction of Dan Antion, photographer extraordinaire and critter daddy. Visit his site, enjoy his wonderful photographs, follow his directions, and enter a world of doors.

January 21, 2021 at 10:26amWow – that’s the saddest popcorn story, ever. I always appreciate seeing firehouse doors. We only have one here, and it only has three doors – well, three at each end, but you can only ever see three. So, your town is not a good place to rob a bank or plot a murder. Good to know.
Take care, Marian.

January 21, 2021 at 3:27pmI’m so bummed about the popcorn factory story!! I make our popcorn but still. The firehouses in Gilbert are the fanciest I’ve ever seen and have awesome doors. I keep saying I’ll stop and take photos, but I haven’t yet. As far as robbing the bank, it appears the back is also where the drive up part is, so you’d best be certain there weren’t a bunch of people there. 🙂

January 22, 2021 at 9:09amYou’d best not be local, either; your mama would know what you’d done before you got home. Small town. Gotta love it.

February 8, 2021 at 12:49amWho knew a popcorn story could be sad? Dang. What a shame.
There’s a candy shop in Anderson, called Good’s, and Mentor and I have been wanting to go there for over a year. We were going to go last summer, take our kids, but you know, last summer wasn’t real or whatever. Anyway, the reason we want to go there is because someone brought the most fantastic popcorn to our office — it was lemon with white chocolate drizzle. It was scrumptious! That tiny sample bag was not enough for us! 😛

February 8, 2021 at 9:13amMmmmm, that popcorn sounds dee-vine! There’s a family-run candy shop in Jeffersonville, not real far from here, called Schimpff’s. They have oh, so many good things! When the world starts up again, I’ll have to go again. You come visit, and we’ll go together!
