On the Road With Uncle Gonzo #MondayRecommends #Nails

I bought E. Chris Garrison‘s ROAD GHOSTS OMNIBUS back when people went to conventions and bought books directly from authors, but I just got around to starting it last month. I binged all three books and the bonus short story.

Happily for me, I had already bought and read the three Tipsy Fairy Tale books that take place in the same “world” and have a few cross-over characters, so now I’m re-binge-reading (binge re-reading?) those.

It’s always so satisfying to open a book and fall into a world with characters who feel real and incidents (outlandish or mundane) that feel believable. These books are books like that. I want to pat Brett and Skye on the back and give them good beer and murmur, “There, there, dear.” I want to punch Larry in the snoot. Until, you know, I don’t want to.

Yeah, the first Road Ghosts book take place on a road trip, and the other two feature a lot of interstate driving. I hate to drive, so it was nice to have somebody else at the wheel.

The Tipsy Fairy Tale books take place mostly in Indianapolis, with a lot of action on or near Monument Circle, which is pretty much the only part of Indy I know. Skye can see the fairy world, but only when she’s tipsy. Of course, being tipsy makes fast thinking, clear judgement, and quick getaways problematic, so….

Thanks, Ms. Garrison, for the happy vacation in Gonzo world! Now I want a crappy old VW bus called Soccer Mom!

My new nail stamping plate hasn’t come yet, so I did this wintery mani this week. Next week will be Valentiney, and then something SPECIAL!

p.s.: I’m getting my first COVID shot today. Wish me luck!

It went well. So far, I just have a kinda sore arm at night. Once I got up and started using it, it feels fine.
