Back in 2015, my then-cats, Munchkin and Amidala, remewed THEY CALL ME DESTINY: A MEOWMOIR by Destiny Kalser with Fern Field Brooks. They gave it two dewclaws up.
THEY CALL ME DESTINY is the first book in Destiny’s three-book autobiography. The second and third were supposed to come out long ago, but they didn’t. Probably because Life, eh?
The good news is, Fern Field Brooks sent me an Advanced Reader Copy of book two. DESTINY’S CHILDREN: A CAT MEOWMOIR takes up where book one left off, taking Destiny through her brief arranged tryst with a handsome boy cat, her first (and only) litter, her Big Girl Operation and subsequent menopaws, and the … well … destinies of her children. Meanwhile, Destiny’s couple, Fern and Konny, go through turbulent times, repeatedly upsetting the lives of Destiny and her kittens.
Our #2 Daughter often talks about how hard it is to take a cat to the vet or make any other drastic change in its life. “They don’t know what’s happening. What goes through their heads when you trap them in a box and take them somewhere where they get hurt? They don’t know it’s for their own good.” I think Fern comes closer to my view, when she has Destiny at least understand that Fern loves her and wouldn’t do anything to her that was supposed to be mean.
DESTINY’S CHILDREN is due out on Mother’s Day (May 9, 2021), but Fern says:
I’m hoping to do a pre-publication sale from April 26th to May 1st so book can be received in time to give as gifts to cat-loving moms.
She also says:
I have a couple of “Advanced Reading Copies” we could offer your readers if you do things like “contests” or whatever.
So here’s a contest for you.
First one who can correctly name six cats who have posted on this blog gets their name and email sent to Fern, in case she has any ARCs still available.
Contest closes March 20, 2021.
AND, Fern and/or Destiny might guest here in April to tell you more about Destiny and her children!
Meanwhile, I did St. Patrick’s Day nails. The blank ones are where the snakes would be, if St. Paddy hadn’t driven them out of Ireland.
A WRITING PROMPT FROM ME TO YOU: Write about luck.

March 15, 2021 at 7:52pmOn a good day, I can name our two cats. I can name yours, but that’s about it. Great nails.

March 16, 2021 at 10:08amGlad you like the nails. If you wanted to, you could search categories for Caturday and see what you turned up…. Just sayin’.

March 16, 2021 at 10:13amI know, but that’s cheating…isn’t it?

March 16, 2021 at 10:17amOh, ghod no! Why should I expect anybody to remember the names of the cats who have posted here? I mean, the prize is a book supplied by somebody else, not a Get Out Of Hell Free card. 😉

March 16, 2021 at 2:52pmOK, I cheated and I still think I missed. I realize these are not all cats, but…
Boone, Freyja Mehitabel Seshet,Tippy, Dasha, Deme, Honeybell – and, I like to think I channeled the spirit of Oreo (officially Oreo-oppolus-fuzz-buzz-boo) into your space when I suggested that Chickie might like to drink from the faucet.

March 17, 2021 at 11:23amThank you for playing, Dan, but no. Still, you’re the only one who has entered the contest, so that’s an automatic win, assuming Holly Jahangiri doesn’t get wind of it. #CompetitiveButLoveable
